Graduate students and faculty attended the 2014 Oklahoma EPSCOR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research): http://www.okepscor.org/ Women in Science Conference on October 13, 2014, whose goal was to encourage young students to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. LaRee Oden, graduate of the Environmental Science undergraduate program and M.S. student in the Department of Plant and Soil Science attended, along with Dr. Angela post and Dr. Samantha Shoaf Miller, faculty members from the Department of Plant and Soil Science, along with Ms. Kristi Bishop, CASNR Prospective Students Coordinator. During the conference, exciting hands-on activities were provided to the students by the group, which included demonstrations of the effects of soil erosion, a seed identification activity, and a carbon footprint calculating activity.
